This species is listed as Endangered because it has less than 2,500 mature individuals and at least 20% of the population has been lost in the last 20 years (generation length is 10 years), mainly as a result of dam construction, illegal collection and land slides that are augmenting as a result of land use change for agriculture. The threats to the species will not cease in the near future.
