Echinofossulocactus sp.
or Stenocactus sp.It’s a species in the genus Stenocactus, or if you like a challenge, try putting the old name Echinofossulocactus on the label. Botanists have tried to classify these plants at species level, but they are so variable that they appear to have given up.
As a result, these plants are popular in the hobby as they have all year round spectacular spination and are among the first to produce very attractive multicoloured flowers. Names are not so important.
The more serious cactophile will always prefer a plant with an authoritative label, even if later it turns out to be ‘wrong’.
